Dogs should be over 4 months of age and proof of full immunisation is required. There is no age limit (dogs or owners!). The club is affiliated with the South Australian Canine Association and as such abides by its rules and conditions in handling dogs. One rule is about height, and click here for information and the official form. One of the most important of these rules being that reprimand is by VOICE ONLY. Physical punishment of your dog in any way is not permitted on club grounds and these actions are strongly discouraged from use at any time. PERSISTENCE ~ PATIENCE ~ PRAISE Food is not used and is not permitted in class. Training is done using a slip collar. These are readily available from our canteen at very reasonable prices. Please make sure you are using the correct size, weight and style of collar for your dog. Any of our friendly instructors or canteen staff will be happy to assist you in your choice of this most important training tool. Make sure the slip collar is put on your dog correctly. The slip collar is to be used for training only. NEVER leave your dog tied up for a length of time with this collar on. Families are most welcome to attend at the Club, but only the current member is permitted to train the dog. If bringing young children to the Club, please ensure that they do not approach a dog unless either they or you have checked with the dog's owner that it is OK to do so. Remember: You are responsible for your dog at all times. Although your dog may love everybody, other dogs may not feel the same way. Remember to maintain social distancing where possible. Stay safe, everybody! |
